Should parents be punished if their children behaved badly?
When a child behaves badly, who is to blame: the parent or the child? This is what I will be discussing in this post. I believe that when a child behaves badly, it is his or her own fault and not the parents’. Yes, the parents do play a part in the child’s upbringing and have to take on some responsibility, but I feel that majority of the fault lies with the child. These are my reasons why.
I believe that each and every human's behaviour depends on the person themself. How they choose to behave is how they behave. They may have been brought up to behave the way they did, but ultimately, the decision lies within his/her own hands. Pushing the blame to the child's parents is wrong. One might think that as the children are raised by the parents, they adopt the parent's behaviour. This is not entirely true. Again, I will say that how the children behave is their own fault. The children have the choice to become like their parent's or to develop their own behaviour.
With reference to the topic while considering other situations such as when the children have matured to become adults and they commit crimes such as Murder or Theft. As adults, they are expected to be fully responsible for their actions, regardless of whether their parents raised them to be that way. Even if one's father or mother is a drug or smoking addict, it does not mean that the child will become like them. The child has the choice to see how the addiction has worsened his/her parent's lives and choose to never become like their parents while adopting his/her parent's good traits.
